SYOG
Hi people, the Production Team of the SYOG (Singapore Youth Olympic Games) Music Video is
looking for a Taekwondo athlete to feature in their official Music Video. The email is as shown below:
Hi,
My name is Sherilyn Lee and I am a Production Assistant at Rushes Network, a Film/TV production house. We are now preparing to shoot the official music video (MV) of the first Singapore Youth Olympic Games (SYOG) to be held in Singapore from 14 to 26 August 2010. This SYOG MV will be broadcasted worldwide during the
second quarter of the year, and also highlighted during the Opening Ceremony of the Games.
A total of eleven sports will be featured in this MV, namely Badminton,
Basketball, Boxing, Gymnastics, Swimming, Table Tennis, Taekwondo, Tennis, Track and Field, Volleyball, and Weight-lifting. At present, we are seeking eleven players to appear in the MTV as "star players" for each of these sports (one star player per sport).
Details are as follows –
Shoot dates: Saturday, 17 April or Sunday, 18 April 2010
No. of shooting hours: 6 or less
Age range: 14-18 years old (or looks the age)
Talent fee: $200
To manage the massive casting required for the project, I was wondering if your students from the respective sports clubs (the eleven as mentioned above) would be interested to participate in this SYOG project. If so, please do email me and I will be in touch to discuss further details.

Coaches appreciation bbq for ivp & HCJC Combine training
Hi people!!!
There are several things you need to take note so please do remember them!!
First up, we are going to have a combined training with HCJC (Hwa Chong Junior College) on 10th april at the normal training time. Please do come in FULL GI! Its gonna be lots of fun, and you can get to make some new friends too! So remember to turn up on that day k!
Secondly, (which is the more exciting news by the way), we are going to have a BBQ on the very same day too! 10th April!!! The BBQ is for the whole club so everyone, please do come down on that day k! We would like to show our appreciation to our coaches on that day too!! Whether you participated in IVP or not, fret not! It is a club event! So come on down to enjoy the food and mingle around with all the club mates! The BBQ will be at PGP (So convenient right! so you should come down!) and it will cost $10 per person(for the food, it is definitely worth it k!). Hope everyone comes down on that day! And we all do get it that it is near the exams, but weighing your cost and benefits, like getting to know more people in the club and having a fun night and all, i'm sure it will be worthwhile to come down!

Annual Taekwondo Retreat!
Hi tkd friends,
Here is an announcement regarding our club's Annual Taekwondo Retreat!
To put it simply, this is a chalet for us all to take a break off studying for exams and TKD-training, have fun and
get to know each other better beyond all the kicking and sparring :D
Following are the details of the chalet:
Date - 4th December 2009 (Friday)
Duration - One Night
Location - Sentosa Coasta Sands (more details will be given later!)
Meeting time - Evening
For dinner that night, there will be a BBQ for everyone (we have 2 pits :D)and then we can spend the rest of night cycling, playing all sorts of games, drink alcohol, ice breaking or maybe just taking a walk around sentosa!
Because we need to book the chalet and prepare the BBQ,
we need to collect $5 from all members attending the chalet!
Please make payment to our treasurers (April or Liyun) and give them your names,
so we can the same time take count of how many going to get enough food for everyone.

Invitation for IVP 2009
NUS Taekwondo will be taking part in the annual Inter Varisty Polytechnic League held at Nanyang Technological Univeristy in March 2010. Our team will be taking part in the sparring (Kyorugi) and pattern (Poomsae) sections of the tournament. We are extending a warm welcome to all NUS students with taekwondo background to join us in this annual tournament.
Please note that for the Kyorugi section, only blue, brown and black belt holders are allowed to take compete.
All participants for the tournament will need to join NUS Taekwondo club for consistent training. We treat the attendance of our participants very seriously to ensure that all players are well trained to take part in the tournament.

NUS TKD Wins The Best Martial Arts Club Award Again!
Dear Friends,
For the 3rd consecutive year, and out of the 10 martial arts clubs vying for this much coveted title, NUS Taekwondo Club has managed to clinch the much Best Martial Arts Club award again!!
This award is the result of the collective effort of all our coaches and members alike. I would like to specially thank my committee for their help in organizing such an exciting calendar of activities throughout the past academic year. Of course, not forgetting everyone else for their help and support over the past year, be it for CMAD, demonstrations, or other club events. Thank you for making NUS Taekwondo such a fun and exciting club to be in!

Change of Training Dates
Hi all,
Please take note that classes on 9th Sept (Wed) will be cancelled. There may be make-up lessons, which Sir will confirm in due time. Reminder: Classes this week will be on Wednesday and Friday, both at 7.30pm, in half-gi.
Please be reminded that this Friday's training on 28th Aug will be at MPSH 4, 7.30pm, in half-gi. Due to the limited training space, just for this week, the training will be for freshmen and those going for the national tournament only. All others are still welcome to drop by for training.
Dear all, Please take note of the following 2 announcements:
Trainings for the upcoming 2 Saturdays will be shifted to FRIDAY, 7.30pm, in view of the upcoming nationals. The attire will be half-gi. We are trying to book MPSH1, but if that is not available, then trainings will be at our usual grounds outside MPSH 5.

Trainings will resume on Saturdays from 12th Sep onwards. All Wednesday trainings are not affected by this change.

Combined Martial Arts Display (CMAD) 2009
Dear all,
After a long and eagerly anticipated wait, come autumn, on the 20 August 2009, the NUS Martial Arts proudly present Combined Martial Arts Display (CMAD) 2009!!!
Co-hosted by NUS Wushu Club and NUS Taekwondo Club, and featuring 10 unique martial arts groups, CMAD 2009 promises to be the biggest and most spectacular martial arts performance of the year.
Improving on previous productions, this year's CMAD takes the form of an integrated play with short static displays by each martial art. The title and theme of the play is "Double Edge", highlighting the dangers of using martial arts for misguided causes.

Change of Training Location Again
Dear all,
Please note that next Wednesday's (6th May) training venue may be changed, as the Office of Student Affairs has reserved the Dance Studio for the whole day.
For those coming down for the Wednesday training, please gather outside the Dance Studio before class begins. Depending on the class size and availability of venue, we will shift accordingly.
Saturday's (9th May) training will continue to be at the Dance Studio.
All holiday trainings after that will resume at our normal training grounds outside MPSH 5.

Dear all, As we head into the busy examination period, kindly take note of the following announcements:
Training during study week (20th - 26th Apr) will be held as normal. However, if the exam halls happen to be in use, trainings will be shifted to the Dance Studio. This is located on just above the SRC Office, on the 2nd floor.
All trainings during the exam weeks (27th Apr - 10 May) will be held at the Dance Studio to minimize disturbance.
If you should have any friends who are interested in joining Taekwondo for trainings this holiday, please let Sir or me know as soon as possible. This is so that we can plan when to start beginner lessons for those without any background in TKD.

Annual Chalet

The annual taekwondo chalet will be held this year at Pasir Ris Costa Sands Resort, on the 10th - 11th Jan (Sat - Sun).
The chalet will be a fun-filled event with chances to make friends and interact with everybody, so please try to set some time off your schedules to come down! All members, new or old, students or alumni, are most welcome to the event. Without spoiling the fun, heres the plan:

Change in Training Venue
Dear all,
In order to prevent disturbance to students having examinations, as instructed by SRC, trainings held outside the MPSH areas are to be suspended during the examination period till 6th Dec.
As such, with immediate effect, the training venue will be shifted to the SRC Dance Studio (2nd Floor, above the SRC office). There will be no change in the training time. The room may have to be shared by other martial arts groups, but we expect the number to be quite small.

Trainings during the Exam period

Trainings will continue during the upcoming exam period in order to cater to members who do not have examinations or for those who would like to continue training.
Kindly also note that there will be training for those involved in the Demo at Singapore Expo on the following dates: 3rd Dec (Wed), 5th Dec (Fri), 6th Dec (Sat). More details will be released via email/SMS.
One-way transport will also be provided on the day of the performance itself (6th Dec) to Singapore Expo. Annual Training Camp

Training Gi + shin/forearm guards
Sports wear - shirt and pants x 2
Comfortable wear x 2 or more
Sports shoes + socks
Slippers
Towel + toiletries + tooth brush
Own cup/mug (own fork & spoon if you're feeling environmental friendly)
Sun protection (if nec)
Own medical kit (if nec)
Some cash for food
All the activities will be waiting for you! We hope to see you there! Note: Training on the 6th of September Saturday will be as usual.

Freshie Tea
Welcome back to the new academic year. There will be a tea and recruitment session for all interested members in the NUS Community to come experience and find out what Taekwondo is all about when the school reopens next month.
